The legislative goals are written in jello and will require significant resources to achieve.
Richter Law
The tenatively titled Richter Law is a legislative goal at the state levels. The law will mandate that law enforcement claims concerning citizen statements cited in arrest reports or cited as legal testimony be substantiated by digital audio or video recording. This law would encourage law enforcement to utilize inexpensive digital or video recording devices during all interactions with citizens. The digital evidence would provide for more efficient prosecutions and would also provide an increased level of transparency which would discourage police abuse.
The Civil Liberty Accountability Law
A more ambitious and long term goal of our organization is to introduce and lobby for the passage of a federal law which will permanently bar from any level of government employment any public servant who is convicted of a Constitutional civil liberty violation. This law will also be sought in individual states. The intent is to remove from government employment those tax paid public servants who violate civil liberty.
